PowerPoint 2002 picture pasting

When I paste a picture on to a slide, all existing
pictures on that slide are resized and rearranged so that
they do not overelap. I do not want this. How can I turn
it off?

You need to turn of the automatic layout mode.

1. Select Tools | AutoCorrect options.
2. Switch to 'AutoFormat As You Type' tab.
3. Tick off 'Automatic layout for inserted objects'.
4. Click on OK.
