I know this software was addressed before, but I could not find the
answer I need. A previous posting had asked for baby steps, thus the
great amount of detail and I apologize for the lengthy posting. I had
downloaded Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 Template Creation Wizard from the
Microsoft download website a few months ago, installed the program (or
thought I did) but never tried to use the program until yesterday.
When I tried to find the program yesterday, I could not find it. It
does not show up under Tools, Add-Ins from the main menu bar. I
downloaded another copy of the program and tried to reinstall it.
However, I could not reinstall because I got an error message that
basically said that I had to delete the previous version of the program
first. When I tried to delete the program from the Add or Remove
Program under Control Panel, I got this message: There is a problem
with this window Installer Package. A program run as part of the setup
did not finish as expected. Please contact the software support or
vendor. When I clicked on the OK button, it took me to another error
message that said: Fatal Error during Installation. Whether I tried
to Remove or Change or Repair the program in the Add or Remove Program,
I got the same messages. I've deleted as many of the associated files
and registry keys as I could find using RegVac and using Search to look
for files with the program name or application file (ppttpwiz.exe;
ppttpwiz.msi). I've deleted some associated registry key so that
although the program is still listed under Add or Remove Programs, I no
longer have the option of "change" or "remove." I have RegVac A1C PC
Ultra Cleaner installed on my laptop and both programs have the ability
to uninstall programs.....the program is NOT listed as one of the
installed programs. I have also used Window Installer CleanUp and this
program is NOT listed as one of the installed programs either. I have
uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Office twice, still no success.
The program name does not show up when I ran regedit.
I started Regedit and went to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\PowerPoint\AddIns\
It is not listed.
I then tried:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\PowerPoint\
I did not see Addins, but DLL Addins, and when I clicked on DLL Addins,
only "ab(Default)" showed up under NAME and "REG_SZ" showed up TYPE in
the right panel.
I then tried:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\PowerPoint\Addins
The only file available is MultiMgrAddln.AddlnDesigner1.
Basically, I would like to just delete the program from my Add or
Remove Program List. This program has been uninstalled but still shows
up on my Add or Remove Program List and I cannot remove or change it
from that window. The program no longer exists on my computer and I
have deleted some of the registry keys, probably not all obviously
since I am still having problems. I would appreciate any help anyone
can give me.
After spending hours on the phone with Microsoft, they said they could
help me because "it's a third-party software," and Windows XP support
could not help either.
