Powerpoint 2007 link bug

J

JFO

When I open Powerpoint 2007 files of the type pptx or pptm with linked
objects to Excel, I can see in task manager that excel.exe is executed in the
background for each linked object. The strange thing is that I answer "NO",
it stills executes excel in the background, as if it tries to update the
data. The mouse cursor becomes "bussy" and powerpoint is VERY slow to work
with until all links are "updated" (or whatever it does), which means that
for a big presentation, just opening the file and start working with it can
take a long time!. If I save as the .ppt format, then it behaves as expected.

The problem is also documented here:
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.powerpoint/browse_thread/thread/3df9044982cbea6d

Does anybody have any experience with this problem? Is this the right forum
for this kind of bug report?

I tried to report this proble to Microsoft Norway, but I was talking to
complete ignorants and unqualified personel who wanted to charge me for
"support".

thanks
