Powerpoint Action Hyperlink

I cannot get the hyperlink to work. I created an action button and added the
url address as http:\\xxxx.com\. The problem is that this freezes my computer
and I have to end task and then restart my computer again. I've done this a
number of times. Please help. I have a presentation to do tomorrow. Thanks !

Can you go to that link by typing the address into your browser without
crashing your computer? Have you tried using forward slashes in the URL
instead of backslashes (the backslashes, which you listed, are not the
correct form of a URL)?
