Powerpoint always inserts a Loudspeaker icon to represent sounds (e.g. mp3)
on a slide.
How do you change this icon to a picture of your own choosing?

Hi Russ

If you use 2007 you can right click the loud speaker icon and select change
picture. If you use an earlier version you can drag the icon off the slide
then add a picture/icon of your choosing -> slide show -> custom animation ->
drop down arrow next to your sound file -> timing -> triggers -> start effect
on click of -> select your pic/logo from the drop down list. I have a feeling
triggers were introduced in XP/2002 so if you have 2000 or before I don't
know if it's possible.

I need the Picture to auto-hide when clicked. (The original Sound Icon can
and does)

It is possible to change midi files to Cdex'd mp3 files but there will be
quite an increase in file size. We've done a few for people and not
surprizingly the increase was pretty big (still much less than a wav though.)

Hi Russ

Add an exit animation (disappear) to the picture, drag the animation to
below the sound file animation in the taskpane and set to 'with previous'.
That should do it.

The MIDI contains control change information used to control room lighting
during the presentation.
