I am using Office 2000 and WIN XP. If I select and copy a chart in Excel then try to PASTE SPECIAL into Powerpoint or Word, the Paste Link is grayed out and I cannot create a link to the chart. I recently upgraded my PC to WIN XP. This combination worked fine with WIN98 and Office 2000. I have a different XP workstation with Office 2000 on it and it also works fine. Is there some set up option somewhere that enables the Paste link?

Hi, Gary. Does the path to the file that contains the Excel chart object (including the three characters representing the drive, the characters in folder names, the backslash character between folders, the workbook name, the worksheet name, and the chart object name) exceeds 64 characters? If so, then reinstalling Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a may fix the problem. You might want to reinstall Office 2000 Service Pack 3 after that while you're at it.
