Greetings:
I just bought a new laptop computer with the 2003 version
of PowerPoint on it. As an educator, I have used
Powerpoint for many years and have developed hundreds of
talks and lectures which I repeatedly use, using some of
the same slides in many different lectures.
However, I have a serious problem with the new version.
In previous versions, I would simply get a notification
about a font that could not be saved because of lack of
copyright or something like that, which was fine. On this
version, it freezes my entire presentation as read-only
so I am unable to modify it because of "unauthorized
fonts." This is a serious problem as I always update my
presentations with newer material before I use them and
now I have to remake my entire presentation from scratch
each time, taking many hours.
Unfortunately, many of my slides are up to 10 years old
and I have no idea which ones have the fonts that are
problematic - and based on the new PowerPoint program, I
couldn't delete them if I knew because I am unable to
modify a read-only file. I cannot even copy some of the
slides to a new presentation but have to remake them from
scratch. I suppose I could go back and buy the previous
version of PowerPoint but before I lose out on the
benefits of 2003, would anyone have any guidance for me?
