What is the sound-engine used by PowerPoint? Is it Windows Media Player
control?

Thanks Shawn and Steve,

Should have guessed! I actually did a bit of programming in Win API and some
MCI before in my guitar tuner area:

Best reference for MCI is of course Petzold's "Programming Windows 5th Edn"
1999 , where I learnt all my MCI and WinAPI audio stuff. Great book to
really understand this api.

Great info on your PFC page also.

Actually "Plays for Certain" sounds like "Plays for Sure" lol
Did a doubletake on that .. and also AT&W was another doubletake on AT&T.
I guess I need new glasses :)

Well, that sort of, kinda depends on what the sound file is. In general
terms, the MCI does the work, sort of. Keep in mind what we call the MCI is
really a front end exe built up on a WHOLE BUNCH of api's within Windows.
Keep in mind when the EU had MS take "media capability" out of XP for sale
in the EU, they pulled out 180+ files from the OS.
