How can I make text curve into a half circle in PowerPoint? (Text needs to
be static, not animated.) I would appreciate any help I can get on this.

In Word you can accomplish this with WordArt. For PPT, I suggest you ask in
the microsoft.public.powerpoint newsgroup.
