ppt crashes when opening ppt files

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I have a ppt file that was created on the last version of Powerpoint that I had on a Powerbook last December. I have since upgraded the computer to a Macbook Pro and Office to 2008. Now I cannot open the file - it crashes Powerpoint on every attempt.

The file contains a few videos and graphics. The videos are IIRC mov and the images are jpg.

Any suggestions on how I can force it to open the file? Can it be opened by disabling images/videos?

TIA

Thanks for that. Looks like, from the crash data, that it is a video that is causing the problems.

It is corrupted, or at least some of the embedded video/image data are. Now if only I could open it by disabling those.

I do have a backup but it is not to hand :}
