Practice for tasks no longer needed in a schedule

We have tasks in schedules that at some point in the project they no longer
are needed. For example a drawing is submitted for customer review. We have
tasks linked to the return of the submittal for any customer changes. So
times no changes are needed. Deleting these tasks has caused problems with
links to future tasks being deleted and not relinked. The causes tasks with
no links to be rescheduled to the project start date.

How do others handle this issue?

You could set the duration/work to zero and mark them 100% complete.
You might include a note in the task name or note field that the task was
not needed.

Yes this sounds better than deleting the tasks. One thing to also do to
uncheck the Mark Task As Milestone check box because of setting the duration
to 0. This also keeps the baseline info where if you delete the task the
baseline for the deleted task is gone.

Thanks for the replies.
