I am trying to set up a prayer list database for my church's website.
Ideally, I would like to be able to use Access (I have 2007 beta and will
most likely get the full version when it's released) to connect to our
existing database server and manage the list from there. Using Access, I
would create a short form for users to submit requests as well as set up a
way for Access/the database to receive requests emailed from our email prayer
chain. I would also have a page set up to display the requests and have a few
short options. Ideally, I would like to have a way for users to mark the
request as 'Private'. If this was checked, it would only display on the main
page if you had logged in (and only the church staff and myself would have
accounts), and the request would be emailed to the pastor.
Now, I have a few questions:
1) Our current webserver's database software is mySQL. Does Access support
this, and if so, what is the best way of going about setting up a connection
so I can manage the database from within Access?
2) As I mentioned, I would like to receive requests from the email Prayer
Chain and automatically have them added to the database. Is there a way to do
this?
If you need any information about my system (server or local), let me know.
Thanks!
