Pre-installed Office

B

Big Giblets

We bought a lap-top and bought a copy of Office 2003 Basic.
The machine got terminally damagd and was replaced with a new one that had a
trial version of Office pre-installed.
As we already owned a copy of Office I ran the uninstall utility and then
reinstalled Office.
Everything is OK apart from Outlook 2003.
I'm a pretty competent user but don't seem to be able to get the out going
mail server configured properly.
I've just about everything.
The bizarre thing is that when I uninstall Outlook from Control Panel I get
a successful de-installation message but it's still there on the menu bar
runnung just fine. Also if I do press send/receive with only one account I
get two pairs of sent/receive sessions in the dialog box. It's as though
I've got two instances of Outlook co-existing.
I don't want to lose all my data so any suggestions short of reformating the
hard disk would be appreciated.

Did your copy of Office 2003 Basic come preinstalled on the
computer that was "terminally damagd"? If yes, then that copy of
Office is not licensed for installation on any other computer
(not even the replacement).
