Preserve Formatting in Text Field

Hi, the database I've created is a simple document database which captures
the date, to/from, and a relevent excerpt from the given document, such that
the text in the excerpt field can be searched. The excerpt field is
currently a "Memo" field.

I was wondering if there is any way to preserve the formatting from the
original document (underlining, bold, bullet points, etc.) using a "Memo"
field or any other type, but yet still retain the search capability.
