Preventing Date Change on Document

How do I prevent the date from automatically changing? The
command - insert - date & time - box "automatically
update" is NOT checked.

If the date is changing, then no matter how it was inserted, it is a DATE
field. You need to use a CREATEDATE field instead. The current setting has
no effect on how a date may have been inserted in the past, and note that
Alt+Shift+D always inserts a field. For more on date fields, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/DateFields.htm. If you're using a
letterhead template, your best bet is to put a CreateDate field in the
template.
