Hi, I have a publication in Publisher which is 40cm x 60cm. It will be
printed at this size commercially BUT I want to print a proof version on
a desktop printer with a paper size of a4. I want it all on one sheet of
paper - Not tiled, at a reduced size. Is this possible in Publisher
please. I have spent ages trying to find a way and I'm now seeking your
help PLEASE

Print a PDF at 40x60cm, and then get Adobe Reader to scale down for the
proof copy. If you don't have a PDF printer, try PrimoPDF from
www.primopdf.com.

Hi Ed,
thanks for the help, I downloaded PrimoPDF and usd it to print the
document to a pdf file. I then opened this in Acrobat reader but I can't
see how use Acrobat Reader to reduce or scale the document down to one
sheet of A4. I've tried using both an Epxon R200 inkjet and Samsung lase
printer. Can you offer further guidance please, like what are the menu
options used in Reader.

Many thanks for helping a dumbo like me.

File > Print > Page Scaling = "Shrink to printable area" > OK in Adobe
Reader 8. In 7 it was "Scale to printer margins" or similar.

I take it your PDF file consists of 4 pages with crop and bleed marks on?

You need to set the PDF paper size to the size of your publication in
Page Setup > Printer and Paper in Publisher before creating your PDF, so
that a single page is created.

Tried that - same result.
I had previously only set the PUBLICATION to custom size of 30 x 40,
following your last post I set the page size to that size too, however i
still get 4 pages when I print the pdf file shrunk to fit.

But does your PDF still appear as 4 pages?

(If it appears as a single large page, it's an Acrobat print problem; if
it appears as 4 pages, it's a Publisher setup problem.)

Try setting Printer and Paper to 30x40, then setting Layout to "Full
Page" (as that's what you're using).

Hi Ed,
so sorry about this, but it appears I cannot select a paper size that
large within Primo pdf. the largest I can find is tabloid which still
requires more than one sheet of a4 to print. I'm feeling real thick here!

Surely what I'm trying to do must be fairly easy.
I've set the publication size to 30 X 40 cm added content that looks
fine on screen, see screenshot I go to print to the pdf virtual printer
(screenshot attached)and find the largest paper is tabloid which is long
enough but not wide enough - is there anything else I can do please.

Thank you so much for your patience with an awkward frustrated Publisher
user.

File > Page Setup > Printer and Paper > Properties > Advanced > Page
Size > PostScript Custom Page Size > 300 x 400mm.

Thanks Ed,

brilliant, so many parameters to choose from - almost guarantee I will
get at least one wrong.
Thanks again for your patience, I really appreciate your time.
