Printing a document "to a bitmap"?

R

Robin Tucker

I would like to generate "previews" of Word templates, which are used as
report templates in our VB.NET application. I notice that I can "copy
as..." a range into the clipboard to be pasted elsewhere as a bitmap,
however, I would like to "save a range as" in some way so that I don't
interfere with the clipboard.

Is there any such feature?

Thanks.

You can check the box in the properties for your template to have a preview.
I advise against doing this because it bloats not only your template but
resulting documents.

There is nothing to do this built into Word; you need a separate printer
driver to generate the image file. You can certainly generate a pdf file if
you have the appropriate software. My scanner came with a program called
PaperPort. I can print to that and from it, export web thumbnails or
bitmaps.
