Printing a merge in Publisher 2003

I'm trying to print a merge of Postcards (2 cards to a page), with the merged
address on the other side. When trying to print the merge I get the message
"Publiser cannot merge with this number of pages, delete a page ".

I want to print double sided so I can just stamp and post.

There is nothing in help regarding this message. Any idea?

Thanks

How do you have this setup? You should have one postcard on your screen. Insert a
page for your back design.
In page setup select postcard, if need be change the gaps and margins. Create your
merge, select print on both sides in your printer.

Mary, thank you.

I have it all set up as you suggest and it prints out all ok (2 to a page
and two sided) prior to merging the data source. Once merged, and I get the
option to print merge I get this strange message ...

"Publisher cannot merge with this number of pages

Some publications require a certain number of pages in order to merge
information -- for example, labels must only have one page, tent cards two,
and greeting cards four. To merge information into this publication, you must
delete pages"

I've tried printing just the first merged record only, changing the print so
that it placed only 1 card to a page, etc, etc. I'm now stuck.

Cheers,

Dave

From this article:

This is a bug in Publisher that doesn't let you print postcards that you set up
correctly for an Avery template, such as Avery 3263. Rest assured that the bug will
be fixed in the next version. That, however, doesn't help you right now. Fortunately,
there are couple of workarounds, and while they involve some manual fussing that you
shouldn't have to do, they at least allow you to print your postcards on the Avery
template that you purchased.

Before I get into the workarounds, I just want to review the steps you can take to
set up a postcard publication for an Avery template, such as Avery 3263. After you
open a pre-designed postcard publication or start one from scratch:

1.. On the File menu, click Page Setup.
2.. For Publication type, click Label.
3.. Under Page size, choose the Avery template (3262 or 8387) that matches the
template that you purchased at the office supply store.
4.. Click OK.
