Printing booklet, changing size

I am trying to print a document with a printer that has the booklet feature.
The original is laid out as 8.5 x 11. I can print this as a large booklet
using 11x17 paper. I would like to print out smaller booklets using 8.5 x
11R paper. I can do this fine with a PDF file by choosing the paperand
checking the box "fit to page". This doesn't seem to be an option in the
print driver when I print from Publisher. Is there something else I can do
to accomplish this?

What version of Publisher are we discussing?

Have you tried choosing Letter Size 8.5x11
in your Printer Preferences/Properties?

File / Print / Properties button / Advanced button.

It is Publisher 2003.

Yes I have tried choosing letter size 8.5x11 in printer
prefences/properities. I tried everything. Choosing letter doesn't work, it
forces everything on 11x17, creating large booklet. Choosing 5.5x8.5 loses
text and graphics, like I said there is no place to choose "fit to page"
within the print driver as there is with most other applications. Is there
any hope for this situation?

Maybe you could go to...
Control Panel / Printers...

Right click the icon for your
default printer and from the
menu choose...Preferences.

There should be an option
to change your default paper
size. If you change this to
Letter 8.5x11...Publisher
should follow suit.

It's also possible that you
need to search the website
of your printer mfg. for an
updated driver.
