Printing Cutoff Issue

M

Maurice

Greetings:

I am printing postcards [4 per page]. One issue is that the left side is
cutoff by about three characters. Playing with the margins might be a
solution but I thought it odd that the print job did not automatically
correct for 8 1/2 X 11 stock. Is there a best practice for this?

Also, I find that when printing the cards, the artwork side prints to
the first sheet and addressing on back prints to a second page. I hear a
beeping noise after the first page which might be the prompt to put the first
sheet back in but the timing seems short. Ideally, I would like to print one
side of the entire job, then place them all back in for the second side.
What options do I have to control this? Much thanks in advance for any
guidance in these issues.

Re: Your first issue: That's a limitation of your printer. Scheck out the
specs and make the changes according.

Your printer has margin limitations. On a landscape project the largest margin will
be on the right. If you don't set the margins to take this limitation in account you
will have the right lopped off.
Print the current page, input the number of copies, when the print is finished turn
the cards over and repeat.

Much thanks for the timely reply. I have read both posts to my query. It is
actually the left side of the front of the publication that is cut. The back
side is not affected. I have looked at the page setup in Publisher and
looked at the printer properties. Neither of them allow me to adjust the
margins. I fully understand that this may be a physical limitation of the
printer but this is an HP professional series deskjet. Continued
correspondence appreciated as I establish parallel dialogue with HP.

What is the printer limitations? If you are using the postcard in page setup, then in
the arrange menu input the largest margin for all four sides, this will center your
content. Publisher will allow you to adjust any margin, the program doesn't care if
you set the margin beyond your printer limitation.
Open WordPad, in page setup input zero in each margin, the program will default to
your printer's default.
