printing envelopes on Epson R800

I have an Epson R800 and I have tried to print #10 envelopes to no avail. I
contacted Epson support via email, but they have not been able to help me. I
follow all their steps only to consistently receive the following error
message:

For a CD, DVD, or matte board, reload the CD/DVD tray or matte board, and
then press the Paper button on the printer. For sheets of paper or roll
paper, move the output tray to the lowere position and printing will start
automatically. To cancel all printjobs, click the Cancel button.

The Properties in the printer menu says 'letter' and the output tray is in
the lower position as their insturctions have indicated. The Word menu say
Envelope #10 in the print window. I don't know why the printer keeps thinking
I'm trying to print a CD.

Epson support has alluded to the fact that their printer may not be
compatible with MS Word. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have a
solution?

Thank you.

I can see how a printer optimized for printing photos and CDs might get by
with ignoring Word, but in general, any printer that can't print from Word
will be pretty useless and uncompetitive!

There have been occasional reports of problems with this series of Epson
printers (or more importantly their drivers) which have manifested
themselves in odd printing issues with Word.

It seems that Epson is aware of the problem and may produce an updated
driver.

In this instance, creating an envelope template and setting its print
options to use the required feed method may do the trick. There are sample
envelope templates you can download and modify on the downloads page of my
web site.
