How can I print a .doc file from a DOS prompt or any other means without
opening Word.

To learn about the Print command, you can go to a command prompt
(Start > Run type cmd and hit enter) and type HELP and hit enter.
However, that is for printing text files. Word docs are a proprietary
format. So trying to print them as a text file will give you
gibberish.

If you don't have Word, you can download the Word Viewer to print it.

Or you can open it in Word pad...see this TechTrax article for
details...
