Printing from Publisher 2003 to an HP8550

Since installing Publisher 2003 I have been unable to
print to my networked HP8550 color laserjet printer. The
most common error is that the printer does not support
that page size or that there is a document mismatch. I
have not been able to locate a KB article or notes from
HP to resolve this issue. Has anyone else experienced
the problem or have a solution to the problem.

My apologies if this has been answered before, but this
is my first visit to this group.

You need to set the paper size in File > Page Setup > Printer and Paper
If you're doing that and the paper size isn't there, look for a Custom
option. If that isn't available, check for updated drivers from HP.

Thanks for the reply. I have done all of the things you
recommended, and still have the problem. Any other ideas?

Tim,
First, go to the Paper Handling menu on the 8550
console. Make sure that type & size are set to "Auto"
for the tray you expect to be printing from. In
Puplisher go to File>Page Setup & select the Printer and
Paper tab. make sure the size & type are correctly set.
Remember that paper > 28# can only be fed from tray 1
(Manual feed). When printing, select properties, and
again make sure that size, type & source are correctly
set.
HP's latest drivers (both PCL & PS) are a big
improvement, especially if you have the on board hard
drive or duplexer.
