Printing multiple copies of a document to a network printer?

I have Office 2000, full version.

When trying to print multiple copies of a document to a network printer, by
selecting File/Print, and entering the number of copies, I only get one copy
printed.

Am I missing something obvious?

The usual solution is to turn off background printing in Word and to
turn off print spooling in the printer driver.
