Printing Problem with Transparent Boxes

I have word 2003 and have a document that I have added a few boxes and made
them 45% transparent to show some highlighting.

When I print the document the boxes are not transparent and block what is
highlighted.

Is anyone aware of this issue, a workaround?

Some printers are not capable of handling partial transparency. Hard to
suggest what to try. Send the document to a friend with a different printer
and see what happens there?
