printing to default printer

if i open a word doc and print it, then save it it apears that document will
always print to the printer first used unless i change it i.e. file/print and
change printer.
i have a need to always print to the default printer so that i can change
printers simply by changing the default printer from vb then, also from vb,
printing the doc by using shell to word then sendkeys (ctrlP+enter).
is there a way of doing this without using sendkeys from VB to change the
printer.
basically all i want to do is for word ALWAYS to print to the default
printer but it doesnt seem to work. can you help please
