Printing

Oftentimes when I tell Word to print, it doesn't bring up the print dialog
box, but sends the job directly to the printer. I've discovered that if I
assassinate the Word Settings (10) file that Word will work correctly and
bring up the print dialog box. However, it eventually reverts to its bad
behavior. Am I missing something?

I'm using Word 10.1.2 under MacOS 10.2.6.

How are you trying to doo that ??? Through the toolbar (and is it
customized), through the menu or through command-p ???

Hi Hal:

Yes: You are missing the fact that Word has two different print commands.

The File>Print command is supposed to bring up the dialog. The Print button
on the toolbar is supposed to send it directly off to the printer. The only
time it will not do that is if the default printer is not available.

You can use Tools>Customise to change this button for the one that brings up
the print dialog if you wish (I usually do, because I like to fiddle...) :)

Cheers
