Problem Installing Office 2003

J

John S.

I sucessfully installed Office 2003 Pro on my Dell desktop with XP Pro. When
trying to install the same program disk on my Toshiba laptop with XP Pro,
during the installation process, while its copying files, my hard drive slows
down to a few ticks when it gets to copying file "AM.031033.AM", then in a
minute an error message appers saying to check my network connection or to
make sure the disk is in the CD drive. I don't have a network connection and
my CD drive is fine. I tried twice with the same results. Can anyone help
me? I'm having to cancel the install and it takes forever to retart my
computer for the first time after. Thanks.

Hi John,

I've never seen this one! Please check both event logs on the laptop.

Hi John,
Thanks for the reply, but what is an Event Log?

Right-click "My Computer" and then choose "Manage". You should see a
window open with a tree-view on the left. Expand "Event Log", then check
the Application log then System log. Check the exact dates and times
when you tried to do the install. Also check the Office install log
which is usually in the TEMP folder of the user who installed office e.g.

c:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp
