Problem opening .pst file

C

Christy

Hello,
I archived important data at work on an NT machine so
that I could work on stuff at home. The problem is that
when I try to open the .pst file, a message pops up
indicating that I don't have the necessary permissions to
open the file. I didn't create a password when I created
it. How do I open this on Outlook 2003?

Check the file's ReadOnly attribute.
If you used a CD to transfer the file, it will become Read-Only until you
copy it off the CD to a local disk and then remove the ReadOnly attribute

I have the same problem as Christy. I know this sounds
really dumb but how do you copy the PST file from CD to
the local hard drive?

Put the CD in the CD drive, open My Computer, double-click the CD drive and
you should see the data on the CD. Open My Computer again (so there's a
second Windows Explorer window), double-click your hard drive and browse to
the folder where you want your PST file to go. Go bak to the CD window and
click-and-drag the PST to the HD window just like any other copy operation
in Windows. When you've done that, right-click on the new copy you've just
made and unselect the "read-only" attibute. Outlook should now be able to
open that PST.
