Problem selecting folder to save to

When using Word, Excel or Outlook, there is a 20 - 40 second time lag when I
save a document in the file system. I click on File / Save As and when I
click on the Sve In drop-down the machine freezes for 20 - 40 seconds. Then
the drop-down opens and I can repeat the painful process if I need to
drill-down further. This is a recent occurance, and I constantly scan for
spy/addware and viruses...

Open "My Computer", look for drives with "red X", r-click on and
disconnect them. Office will not wait for them to time out then.

Do you have any disconnected network drives, printers
or ftp locations? If so, Word may be waiting for them
to be available for a time or may be slower reading network
drives.

Bob,

I recently posted a problem I was having (time lag while saving a file with
an MS app) and you posted a reply. Although your reply did not fix the
problem, I wanted to let you know what the fix was...

I apparantly had a corrumpted identity on my PC and once deleted and a new
one created, I lost the problem. A (programmer) friend of mine told me he
was experiencing the same issue on one of his computers and that he thought
the issue was really a registry key that has something to do with the hive.

Thanks for your support,
Arthur
