Problem using Word as editor...?

Howdy,

I use OL2000 and use Word as my email editor (Yes, I know
that many suggest otherwise, but there are features in Word
that I need...)

Recently, when I respond to a message, Word fails to open.
Specifically, my CPU usage goes to 100%, and everything
hangs. At that point, it is Word that displays as hogging
the CPU.

When that first happened, I rebooted, chose "Most recent
good configuration" and that seemed to cure the problem.
Unfortunately, the fix was temporary.

The next time it happened, I reinstalled Word.

That worked for a few days, but now, the problem is back.

What might be the fix for this hassle?

Sincere thanks,

Do things worked correctly when you use Word normally?

Howdy,

I'll describe my recent steps:

After posting earlier, I set OL to use its own editor.

Then, when I read your question, I tested and, yes, Word
launched properly.

I then reset OL to use Word as its editor, and when I tested
a reply to a message, Word launched immediately.

So (for now at least) it appears that setting OL to its own
editor, and back again to Word fixes the problem.

It seems that your question pointed me in the right
direction.

Sincere thanks,

Hello again,

Well, it seems that I typed too soon...

A message (HTML) just came it, and I touched CNTL-R to
respond. Immediately, the system hung, and Word, as before,
was hogging all of the CPU. I could escape only with a
re-boot.

So, I am back to the start.

Might you have other thoughts?

Thanks, as before,
