Problem with Performance and Latency when opening or saving project pro 2k2 file to the server

Hello - I have Project Server running on a dedicated Windows 2k box, P3 1133MHz, 1,048,092 KB Ram. The Project Pro 2002 Client is running on Win XP, P3, 730 Mhz, 512 MB ram. My smaller files open and save timely enough, but the large project plan with 1,000+ line items can take upwards of 15-20 minutes to open, save, accept updates, etc. Of course, some times the Project Pro client and/or Project Web Access hang for a long time and simply crash. At times the CPU on the client machine is near 100% capacity.

Any ideas on what might be causing this? I have already turned tracing OFF on the server and verified that we do not have any Novell pieces on the system. I also looked at the Project Server updates and they do not apply to my situation (PRJ2002: Performance Issues After You Delete Baseline Information and PRJ2002: Cross Linked Projects Experience Continuous Calculation). I am quite desperate to get this issue resolved as it makes updating the project plan more cumbersome than you can imagine!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Raven:

I suggest that you obtain and apply the following hotfixes:

For Server: #823807
For Client: #825806

After you've applied these, let us know how your system is performing. To
obtain the hotfixes, you must call Microsoft support. Microsoft waives the
fee for support calls for bug fixes.
