problem with Word documents

When working on a Word 2000 document,I think I must have
typed in some sort of code as now, I cannot get rid of
what I typed and each time I open Word, my last piece of
work is still there!! Please can someone help me get rid
of this and be able to open Word with a blank screen,
ready to type!! Thanks
