"problems using find and replace

Running XP Pro using Office XP Word a find and replace job is taking a long
time and locking up the dual xeon 3GHz computer, granted it is a 7000 page
document.

7000 pages must be getting close to the limits of what Word can handle and
frankly I am not surprised that it is struggling with it. Does working in
normal view with background repagination switched off help?

Is a 7000 page document something that someone is ever going to read?
