Problems when opening word template on web server

Hi!

My problem is that I have a word template located on a webserver. The
clients open this through a webpage that has a link to a shortcut
(.lnk) to the template. (this solution is recomended by MS ,
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;278627) . On
some computers this works fine, the templates create a dialogue and
everything is OK. But on some computers , after the "File download"
dialogue, nothing more happens. A file download progress dialogue
flashes by and then nothing happens.

Can this be some security issue? On one computer this solution works
fine if the webserver is located on the intranet, but not when he
tries to do the same thing over the internet.

Help on this matter is highly appreciated!

Hi again!

Ok, correction, I wrote: "On some computers this works fine, " , but
that doesn't seem to be true, if we run this against the same
webserver it doesn't work for anyone. The problem should be in the
configuration of the webserver I assume or ..? If the weblink is
pointing directly on the .dot file the dot file opens in the browser.
I repeat : If i try to do this on a different webserver located on the
intranet everything works fine, but on the customers webserver on the
internet the problem occurs as I described earlier...
