Problems with durations in Project 2007

B

Bobby

I recently upgraded from Project 2003 to Project 2007 (beta).

I'm having a problem with task durations. When I try to enter "3 weeks" into
the duration column it automatically changes to "2.98 weeks" and screws up
the total number of days for the task summary and other project totals.

Why is this? Why doesn't it just accept my 3 week duration? Why is it
changing to 2.98 weeks?

Cheers.

(PS Project 07 looks pretty much like Project 03 so I might just go back to
the earlier version. Is there any much changed?)

Bobby,

I've been trying to reproduce the issue you describe, but I haven't been
able to do so. I know of a few cases where the new cost resources can cause
issues, but that's probably not the issue here. I'd like to try to figure
out what's going on. Would it be possible to get a copy of a project where
this is happening?

As for your comments about the appearance of 2007 vs. 2003, yes, they look a
lot alike. If you're connecting Project Professional to a server, there are
a lot of changes and improvements that vastly improve performance and data
integrity. The non-server changes are things like Visual Reports, Task
Drivers, Change Highlighting, Multiple Undo, Cost Resources, Budgets plus a
few other small things.

If you'd like, you can run both Project 2007 and 2003 on the same system.
You will need, however, to make sure you've installed Project 2003 SP2.

Hi Adrian,

This being said, Budgets is a mistery.
When one looks up the help, you are sent back to the what's new page.
What do you mean by that?
Will it be explained in the help in the final version?
