Problems with export to .pst file

I used the 'export' option to take a copy of my mail folders in a .pst
file as part of moving from one machine to another. The .pst file is
almost 500 Mb, but when I open it in the new installation it appears
to be empty, just the basic folders...

How can such a huge file be empty? Any ideas on how I can get my mail
back?

Why export? Just make a copy of your existing .PST file andmove it to the
new machine:
