Problems with Google

P

Peter Fowelin

I have created my site in Publisher. Google, and MSN Search as well, refuses
to find my site although I have tried to submit the site/URL to Google. I
have started to wonder if the code generated by Publisher create problems for
search engines. Any one else that have experienced the same problem?

Unfortunately it seems to be impossible to export a site created in
Publisher to Frontpage or any other program, so I don't know how to solve the
problem. Or am I wrong?

I can't answer the part about Google but I can tell you that many others
have uttered some mighty blue blues trying to "convert" a Publisher file to
FrontPage. Believe me, you want to start from scratch.

How long have you waited to be indexed?...it can take weeks even months
you know.

No, you don't want to convert a web from Pub to FP...its messy...you'd be
better starting over in FP but not converting.

Note that the Publisher Community has a forum specific to web design. Please
post topics to the applicable forum.

Rob's response is correct. But to answer your question, yes, it has been
identified as a problem. "robots" do have some issue with Pub 2003 web code.
It is under investigation by MS.

Publisher code does not convert well into web design tools.

I'm grateful for your answers, even if they weren't so encouraging. :)

As others have said don't attempt to use a DTP application to create a
webpage.
In terms of Google, the secret is to get your site linked from Google listed
pages.
