Problems with Mutiple Personal Folders...

Hi Folks,

Had a MAJOR screwup with Outlook 2002 (10.6515.6626) SP3
on W2K Pro "patched to the max" last week.

I came in for the day and fired up Outlook and it said it
was doing the install. Thought that was strange but I copy
all PST's to another drive each night so I told it to
proceed. Well it went ahead and finished and opened and I
had NONE of my email or other folders... So I played
around with copying these backed up PST's to the proper
Outlook folder, etc. and nothing went smoothly although I
KNOW I have done this before on other PC's... I ended up,
somehow with THREE different Personal Folders.

The first one is apparently from the day this happened.
The second one is basically empty.
The third is the first one plus any email received since
it was fixed...

If I seach for outlook.pst I shoe one in:

C:\Documents and Settings\Chuck\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook and is 1,751,440KB
I am pretty darned sure this is the "real one"

and the other is in:

C:\Documents and Settings\Chuck\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook and is 942,160KB

I have other folders setup in Outlook and they are all in
C:\Documents and Settings\Chuck\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

so I believe that the 1,751,440KB one needs to be in this
subdirectory.

And there is more. If I go into File\Data File
Management...\Data Files I see TWO Personal Folders and
one says "Mail Delivery Location" so am I safe in saying
that one is the 1,751,440KB OUTLOOK.PST and I can get rid
of the other one ?

Sorry for all of the verbage but trying to present the
complete picture here :)

Thanks for any help !

Chuck

Copying old PSTs over the top of new ones causes this. Create a new mail
profile.

Create a new mail
profile.

Brian,

Thanks for the reply !

I hear what you are saying but how would that get my
current email back since it is in the "other profile" ?
Sorry if I am missing something.

Sorry if I am missing something.

Your mail is not in the profile, it's in the PST. When you create a new
profile, add in the PST containing your messages.
