Program Auto-close?

E

Ed MacAlmon

We have recently installed Word 2002 on our network at work. If I open Word
and then open a file and then close the file via the appropriate "x," Word
closes with it. I assume this is a an option (default?), but would prefer
that the program stay open when the active file is closed. I actually
believe it is opening a new instance of Word for each file I open. For the
life of me I cannot find the option. Any help greatly appreciated. (Also
posted on microsoft.public.word as I was unsure where it best fit.)--Ed

Word does not create a new instance for each document, just a new window. In
all windows but the last open one, the X button is for the window/document.
In the last open window, you should have two X buttons, one for the document
and one for Word. (In Word 2003, there are two buttons in every document.)
