Program auto-inserting text into main body text

I have inheritted a computer at my workplace. It is loaded with Office 2000,
along with Outlook (ver. 9xxxxxxx). When I attempt to reply or forward a
messge, I start to type inside the reply/forward and the program auto-inserts
the previous user's name (i.e. [Jane Doe] including the brackets) into the
main body text. I have looked under the macros to see if a macro for this
existed or somekind of virus was present. No macro is listed. I even tried
looking under Rules (longshot, I know), again nothing. I even looked under
the "When replying/When forwarding" option, and nothing is set. I am at a
loss as to why this is happening or how to correct/remove this
auto-insertion. This issue does not happen when I create a new message, only
when attempting to forward or reply to a message. Has anyone else had this
issue, and/or does anyone know a fix to correction this?

Thanks in advance...

You're a lucky one, a lot of people ask for that feature :)

Have you looked under Tools/Options for a COM-Addin?

Look in tools, options, email options - it’s the mark my comments feature at
the bottom of the dialog.

Diane, thanks for the suggestion. I checked to see if that was active and
that option is not checked and is grayed out so I can't access the option to
begin with.

Diane,
Thanks for the suggestion. I checked for this option. It is grayed out and
is not checked, so its setting cannot be changed.
