Project 2003 labor hours- problem

I have tasks that has 4days duration. I know the resource of the
project manager(PM) is 12 labor hours. Is there some way I can enter
the PM labor hour as 12 . At present if i enter 12 hours it changes
the duration and the resource unit also changes. I don't care about
the resource unit all i want the 4days duration and 12 hours.

Change the task to type "Fixed Duration". Since you also want to specify the
work hours, the easiest way to do this (IMHO):

Window/Split
In the bottom pane, change task type to Fixed Duration, enter 4 days. In
the resource area of the form, add your resource and specify work as 12 hours.
Click OK.
