Project 2007: how do I change indicated names of variables?

W

Werner Markus

Hallo NG,

For demonstration purposes, I must change the indicated names of some
variables into another language, e.g. "finish" -> "Ende", or I must
change "currency" into "WU". How could I do tha?

Thanks, Werner

Hello Werner Markus,

If you just wish to change the column headings (for display purposes),
double click on the column heading and in the "Title" area, type in
the new labels you'd like to see.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hello Julie,

It worked fine for the Gantt chart, but it does not work for the netplan
diagram. What a pitty. Any other idea?

Thank you,
Werner

Hello,

You can change the labels on the Network diagram. It's a bit more
work, but can be done. The steps follow:

Display the Network Diagram View
Choose Format > Box Styles to show the Box Styles dialog
Each box style is listed (Critical, Noncritical, Critical Milestone,
etc.)
Select the box style you wish to change.
You'll find the Data template used in many circumstances is "Standard"
and unfortunately, that template is not editable.
However, you can select the Standard Template and copy it.
Copy the template and rename.
In the Data Template Definition dialog you can select each cell in the
box and in the "Show label in cell" enter whatever label you prefer.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie,

Unfortunately, it does not work, since also in the copy of "Standard", I
am only offered a selection of the original variables , the names of
which I cannot change. That is exactly the problem: I would like to use
the content of the variable. Therefore, its software name must not be
changed. It is only the label that I would like to change.

Anyway, thank you for looking into the problem.

Hi Werner,

Okay. I'm sorry that changing the label wouldn't work. I'm
undoubtedly missing your point, but I can show the value "Finish" and
change the label to "Ende" in both the Gantt chart and in the Network
diagram.

None-the-less, you're welcome for what assistance I provided.

Best,
Julie
