Project already open

I am trying to open a project and it is giving me a messages saying I already
have it open in another session. Do I want to open it read only...
How do I close it so I can reopen it so it is read-write ?

Close down your PC and re-boot. What version of Project are you using?

Aren't you using Project Server ?
If so, in Project Web Access, got to Projects / Check-in my projects

I assume you are NOT in a Project Server environment. Do you perhaps
have it open on another PC (e.g. desktop) and now you are trying to open
it on your laptop? Might another user have it open?

I would first close of out Project and try reopening. If that doesn't
work, then there must be another PC involved - either another PC you use
or another user's PC. Find that PC and close out. If you don't know who
might have it open but the file is stored on a common user server, you
may need to contact your IT department and have them find the active
user.
