Project and Sharepoint

Is it possible to have data from a MS Project available in Sharepoint without
the use of Project Server? in other words if i create a Project file using
Office Project Professional and it is saved on my computer (or on a network
share, doesn't matter), can I somehow have the information displayed in
Sharepoint for others to see using any available web parts or other method?

Dale,

it sounds like you want people who don't have Project installed on their
computers to have the ability to view Project data. Of course, as you know,
you can upload the Project file to the SharePoint site, but if a user
doesn't have access to Project, then they won't be able to view it ...

You can export a Project file to a "Web File". Select the option from the
File Menu. Upload the HTML (Web) file to the SharePoint site.

Now, anybody who can view the SharePoint site (with a web browser) should be
able to view the web file.

You really should try the Project Publisher for Microsoft Office Project
utility (www.projectpublisher.com). Not only does it synchronize Microsoft
Project tasks with SharePoint, it also publishes Project and Resource
information as well.

I concur, the Project Publisher makes it really easy to collaborate with your
team using Microsoft Office Project and SharePoint. The download places a
new dropdown menu on the Project toolbar that lets you update your projects
with the click of a button. There is a free 30 day trial available at
http://www.projectpublisher.com

Dale,

I've had the same problem of publishing my task list to Sharepoint. I've
been using the Project Publisher to collaborate with my team by publishing my
Project tasks and schedule to Windowns Sharepoint Services. Everyone on my
team can not only see their own tasks, but they can send me their updates
automatically. I am really pleased with the ease of syncing Project and
Sharepoint--it really saves me time! Besides I don;t have to use anything
but the Microsoft programs I already use. I prefer not to have to learn new
systems. I'm not sure why Microsoft didn't just build this into Project from
the get go. Here's the link for the demo and free trial.
