Hi Gary,
I work in Project 2007. I have a consolidated Master Project consisting of
about 40 sub-projects. When I read your post, I looked at the size of the
file...35,500KB. I then followed the instruction in FAQ 43 at
http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm and opened, then immediately saved the
Master Project File. I then closed it and checked it's size...23,600KB. My
file contains about one third the number of sub-projects as yours, and is
about one third the size of yours.
With frequent editing of the project file and editing the sub-projects
within the Master Project, you will get a certain amount of file bloat due
to fragmentation and leftover "hooks" from moving, deleting, re-arrainging
tasks in the files. It would be a good thing to do the open and immediate
save routinely to keep the file size as small as possible, and to guard
against corruption.
Supposedly, Project 2007 can contain up to 1,400,000 tasks, which would
create a very large file. 63,000KB probably isn't that large of a file, but
the larger it gets, the more important it will be to keep it "clean" to avoid
corruption.
Hope this helps,
