Project Initiation Form

Hi,

I am wondering if someone can point me in the right direction. We are just
setting up Project and Project Server.

I would like project mgrs. to use a form (I can create in Word), that they
fill in when requesting a new project be set up.

is there anything out there that already exists so that I don't reinvent the
wheel that includes the pertinent questions that should be posed?

Thanks!

If you use Prjoect Server 2007, you can use the Project Proposal
functionality which will allow PM to create a project proposals.

Alternetafly ( I know its far fetched ) you could use Portfolio Server which
includes a whole section for project proposals.

Another way is to develop something like an Infopath form which communicates
to Project Server. this will allow you to fully customise your requirements.

Hope this helps

2003 or 2007?

If 2003, I would set up a special Document library, or a folder in
"Shared Documents" on the "Public Documents" SharePoint site, and have them
fill out something there, and you get an alert when it's inserted.

Or, create a project template with bare-bones content, but an enterprise
field that is set to a value like "New Project Request", and then have a PWA
view for you alone that list projects with this value. After the
"approval/logging" process, set the value to null, and let them work forward.
But, this will require PMs to have the "New Project" permission, and I get
the feeling you don't want that? :>)

Hope this helps!

Hi there,

We're using 2003 (both Project and Project Server).

I don't know anything about Portfolio Server and have a feeling that we
don't have huge requirements. Just looking for a sample form we can use.
