Project is not opening

O

Olga Lotherington

When I try to open a mpp file I get the following message:
An unexpected error occured during command execution.
Try the following:
- Verify that all arguments names and values are correct and are of the
correct type.
- You may have run out of memory....
I am using MSP Standard 2003 SP3.

The file contains around 343 tasks and the project was downloaded from SAP
using OpenPS.
Hope someone can help me with this issue...

Thanks,

Hello Olga,

Do you have Norton Internet Security installed? There have been
several reports of people being unable to open MS Project files
after a recent Norton update. If you are running Norton, please
disable the Microsoft Office Plug-in. Search Symantec.com for
Office Plug-in for directions.

If you do not have Norton installed, can you open other Project
files that were created through importing?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi,

Thank you for your quick reply!
I do not have Norton installed.
I can open other project files created through importing. The difference
from the one I can not open (from what I can see) is that the file that can
be opened only contains 26 tasks.

Hello Olga,

It's tough to trouble shoot. My guess is that somehow the import
failed. Have you tried re-importing the data from the other system
and trying again?

If the other files open fine, I'm going to guess it's a corruption
or error problem in the specific file.

Hi,

I sent the file to a colleague that uses MSP 2003 SP1 and he managed to open
the file. We are not 100% sure that the service pack is at the origin of our
pb but it might be.
