Project Professional 2002 and Requiring Client Certificates

I am trying to set up a 2002 Project Server on a virtual server that
REQUIRES client certificates. It works great for Project Web Access,
but I can not access the site in Project Professional 2002; I receive
the error message, "Server returned unexpected result". It is
definitely due to the certificate requirement because when I remove
the requirement, it works fine.

The question is, does Project Professional have a mechanism to support
presenting certificates to web servers in the same way that IE or
other MS Office Products do?
