Project Professional 2007 & Vista

K

Ken F.

I am unable to use a drop down to select a resource from a list in project
under Vista. Here is the basic test that I performed.

I am using MS Office Project 2007 (12.0.4518.1014) MSO (12.0.6017.5000)
and MS Windows Business

1. Open project 2007
2. create two tasks and assign the first task to Fred and the second task to
Barney
3. create a third task and use the drop down to select the resource.
Project will stop working and will shut down.

This only happens on Vista. If I do the same thing on an XP Professional
machine it works fine.

Can anyone help with this problem?

Hi Ken,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

I use Vista Home Premium and Project 2007 works just fine on my machine,
though you didn't tell us the process you use to assign resources. For me,
I prefer using a split screen as all elements of assigning appear there. I
also tried assigning in the Resource column in the Gantt Chart view, and via
Task Information: all OK for me. It sure sounds like a Vista problem. If
nobody responds who has Vista business, I suggest you try a Vista forum or
contact Microsoft.

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Vista Ultimate/Proj Prof 2007.
Sorry, I cannot duplicate either.

Make sure you have all the latest updates for Vista/Project/Office....
Microsoft will not be able to really help you until you are up to date.

Next step would be to try a reinstall of Project. You may be able to use
the repair option. Vista: Control Panel/Programs and Features. Select
Project2007 and see if you get a Change or Repair option. That will be the
first steps MS will have you do anyway.

Sorry I couldn't be more help, but at least it looks like we learned this
problem is specific to your configuration.

Hello Ken F.

An error similar to one you report is logged in the connect site for
Project 2007.

https://connect.microsoft.com/feedback/Validation.aspx?FeedbackID=257919&SiteID=235

The status still shows as "Active" so I assume it is being worked on by
the folks from Microsoft.

Sorry, the only workaround mentioned is to manually type in the name --
not a great work around in my opinion.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
